Risk assessments for Display Screen Equipment (DSE) workstations and users are a legal requirement throughout Europe (as well as user training). Red Kite Ergonomics has over 20 years experience of working with a wide range of companies to help them meet their legal requirements in realtion to these regulations.
The regulations put into UK law a European Community Directive which seeks to protect the health of your workers by reducing risks from VDU work. Office based employees are exposed to potential long-term health effects through using DSE. Minor aches and pains can develop and become serious chronic conditions. Briefly, the Regulations require employers to:
· analyse DSE workstations to assess and reduce risks ensure that DSE workstations meet specified minimum requirements;
· plan work activities so that they include breaks or changes of activity;
· provide eye and eyesight tests on request, and special spectacles if needed;
· provide information and training (DSE Training)
